Prosensa, in Holland, receive an initial grant of 940,000 euros from the Dutch Government to support further development of preclinical compounds for the treatment of Myotonic Dystrophy, with the potential to receive additional funding up to 5 Million euros, subject to successful completion of specific milestones and an initial review in 2012.

Discovery of a Compound that Reverses Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 (DM1) - USA.  A joint team from the U.S. Universities of Rochester and Oregon report that Pentamidine, when tested on genetically altered mice, counters splicing defects in RNA that lead to DM1.
