UK Grants for Research
The following list is not comprehensive, but includes grants from MDSG and other sources of which we are aware.
10/11 MDSG Funding
MDSG contributes £7,500 (matching a similar contribution from Muscular Dystrophy Campaign) towards initial funding for a National Patient Database for myotonic dystrophy at Newcastle University in conjunction with Treat NMD.
9/11 MDSG Research Grant
MDSG commits £11,000 to help fund Dr Jeremy Rhodes’ continuing work on cataracts in myotonic dystrophy at University of East Anglia.
9/11 MDSG Grant
Sponsorship donation £5,000 to IDMC-8 + £3,000 to help fund UK PhD student delegates.
MDSG Research Grant
The MDSG award £7,909 to Dr. Jeremy Rhodes at the University of East Anglia to assist in the research of PhD student Sarah Russell into 'The role of anti-viral defence pathways in Myotonic Dystrophy'.
6/11 MDSG Research Grant
MDSG makes grants totalling £6,260 for general purposes of Prof. David Brooks’ myotonic dystrophy research projects at Nottingham University.
MDSG Research Grant
The MDSG award £10,000 to Professor David Brook at Nottingham University for the analysis of muscle biopsies from Myotonic Dystrophy patients and unaffected controls, with a further £5,000 to support a teaching replacement which will allow Professor Brook to devote more time to research.
MDSG Research Grant
The MDSG award £10,000 to Professor Darren Monckton at Glasgow University for the ongoing analysis of genetic variation in Myotonic Dystrophy patients and how this relates to variation in symptoms
MDSG Research Grant
The MDSG award £3,000 to Professor David Brook at Nottingham University to support the stipend of PhD student Sucrat Arya engaged in Myotonic Dystrophy research.
MDSG Research Grant
The MDSG award £6,150 towards IDMC-7 costs and expenses of participating PhD research students from UK.
